In the song “Breezeblocks” the message is about liking someone so much that you would hurt them, because of all the references it makes to a women getting hurt by a man who loves her. He would threaten cannibalism just to keep her, and just to make sure she wouldn’t leave. One of the last lines of the song is “Please don’t go, I’ll eat you whole” (Newman, line 54). He loves her so much that he doesn’t want her to leave, he only wants her and wants to show her that, but then he wants her to break his heart. As the song is ending he gets to the lines, “Please don’t go, please don’t go/I love you so, I love you so/Please break my heart” (Newman, lines 34-36). The germolene will clean up what he did to the women, or he is trying to hide the scene. “Germolene, disinfect the scene” (Newman, line 29). He brings up using Germolene, which is an antiseptic cream used in the UK. She takes away his pain and makes him feel better and he can’t lose her. He then says how she takes away his pain in the lines “She’s morphine, queen of my vaccine” (Newman, line 21). Sheś trying to yell at him, but he will try to drown her, which could bruise her, and make her choke or not be able to breathe. She is really fighting to get away from him, but he just won´t let her go. He then goes back to what he is doing to her, ¨She bruises, coughs, she splutters pistol shots/Hold her down with soggy clothes and breezeblocks¨ (Newman, lines 19-20). He is trying to show his love, but in a much different way. It seems as if he is talking about suicide and taking her with him or just hurting himself in front of her. He begins to talk about himself in the lyrics, ¨The fear has gripped me but here I go/My heart sinks as I jump up/Your hand grips hand as my eyes shut.¨ (Newman, lines 11-13). ¨Do you know where the wild things go?/They go along to take your honey, la, la, la.¨ (Newman, lines 5-6). ![]() ![]() As the song goes on, it mentions how there could also be other things (people) who would attract the woman away from him.
